Not Every Invitation Deserves a Yes
Good morning, Bold Coffee Talk community!
There was a time when saying yes felt easier than disappointing someone. Yes to the dinner I didn’t want to attend. Yes to the favor I didn’t have time for. Yes to plans when what I really needed was a quiet evening at home. But somewhere in our 50s, peace starts becoming more valuable than being included.
That doesn’t mean we stop showing up for people. It means we stop abandoning ourselves every time someone asks for our time. A gracious “I can’t this time” is a complete sentence. No elaborate excuse required.
What are you still saying yes to simply because you’re uncomfortable saying no? Protecting your time isn’t selfish. It’s finally recognizing that your time belongs to you, too.
