Nobody Warns You That Your Parents Start Needing You

There’s a season of life nobody really prepares us for. You’re still helping your children. Working. Managing your own home. Trying to make plans for your future. Then one day, somewhere between a grocery run and a phone call, you realize your parents are starting to need you too. Not necessarily in big ways. Sometimes it’s picking something up from the store. Making an appointment. Explaining paperwork. Driving somewhere. Or simply answering the phone because they need you..and there’s something emotional about becoming the person your parents now call for help. It’s love. It’s responsibility. And some days, if we’re allowed to say it, it’s a lot.
