Maybe It’s Time to Be a Beginner Again

Good morning, my beautiful Bold Coffee Talk family!

I hope you’re starting this Monday with a little excitement about the week ahead. I’ve been thinking about something lately. When was the last time I allowed myself to learn something completely new? Not because it would help my career. Not because it could become another business. Not because I needed to accomplish something. But simply because I wanted to.

I’ve been thinking about learning to play the piano..and the more I think about it, the more I realize how rarely we give ourselves permission to be beginners at this stage of life. We’re so accustomed to knowing what we’re doing. We’ve spent decades becoming good at our jobs, raising families, managing households, solving problems, and handling responsibilities. Somewhere along the way, we became the people everyone expects to have the answers.

But what happens when we try something we know absolutely nothing about? We might make mistakes. We might feel awkward. We might laugh at ourselves..and maybe that’s exactly what we need.

Maybe there’s something beautiful about doing something without needing to be good at it. I don’t need to become a concert pianist. I don’t need to master every song. I don’t even need to have a timeline. I just want to experience the joy of learning..and perhaps that’s something we forget as adults. Not everything we do needs to become an accomplishment. Some things can simply become memories.

A painting class. Learning a new language. Trying a dance lesson. Picking up an instrument..or finally attempting something we’ve talked ourselves out of for years. I think there’s a younger version of each of us who still wants to explore, laugh, make mistakes, and discover something exciting..and maybe she deserves a little attention too.

🌸 A Little Journal Reflection

What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn but kept putting off because you thought you were too old, too busy, or simply wouldn’t be good at it?

AND what would happen if you gave yourself permission to try anyway? This week, I hope you find one small opportunity to do something simply because it interests you. We don’t have to be experts at everything, ladies. Sometimes being a beginner is where the fun begins.
