Good morning, my beautiful Bold Coffee Talk family!
This morning, I’ve been thinking about something that feels increasingly important as I get older. How much of our lives do we spend waiting for something special to happen? We look forward to birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, holidays, and celebrations. We count down the days until Friday. We tell ourselves we’ll relax when the house is clean, the bills are paid, the work is finished, or the next big responsibility is behind us.
But lately, I’ve been wondering whether we’re overlooking some of the best parts of our lives while waiting for those bigger moments. Because sometimes happiness doesn’t arrive with a celebration. Sometimes it’s a quiet morning when nobody needs anything from you. It’s sitting comfortably in your favorite chair with a book you can’t put down. It’s hearing someone you love laughing in another room. It’s having nowhere you need to be and realizing you can take your time..and sometimes it’s simply looking around your home and appreciating the life happening right in front of you.
I think when we’re younger, we’re so focused on what’s next that we forget to appreciate what’s happening now. We’re chasing careers, raising children, building relationships, and trying to establish ourselves. There’s always another milestone. But something changes with age. You begin to recognize that an ordinary Tuesday afternoon can become a beautiful memory. That the conversations you almost rushed through might someday be the ones you wish you could have again.
That the people sitting around your table matter more than whether everything on that table looks perfect..and that some of the happiest days of your life won’t necessarily be the ones you photographed. They’ll be the ones you simply lived. I still have goals. I still have dreams. And I certainly haven’t finished building the life I want. But I’m learning that I don’t have to postpone enjoying today while working toward tomorrow.
There’s room for ambition and appreciation. There’s room for excitement and stillness..and there’s something wonderful about reaching an age where you begin to understand the difference.
A MOMENT OF REFLECTION
What’s one ordinary moment in your life that you’ve learned to appreciate more as you’ve gotten older? Maybe it’s your morning coffee, time with your family, a quiet house, or simply having an afternoon to yourself. I’d love to hear about those little moments. Because sometimes sharing what makes us happy reminds another woman to notice the happiness already surrounding her.
Wishing you a beautiful Monday filled with moments worth remembering.
