When Did Being “Low Maintenance” Become a Compliment?

Good morning, Bold Coffee community.

Can we talk about something women rarely admit?

Sometimes we’re not actually “low maintenance.” We’ve just gotten very good at needing nothing from anyone.

We handle it. Pay for it. Fix it. Figure it out. And when someone disappoints us, we quietly adjust our expectations instead of saying, I needed more from you.

Independence is powerful. But there’s a difference between being capable and becoming so accustomed to carrying everything that receiving care starts to feel uncomfortable.

Maybe strength isn’t proving we can do everything alone. Maybe it’s finally allowing ourselves to expect reciprocity, consideration, effort, and support without feeling demanding for wanting it.

Bold Community, have you ever called yourself “independent” when you were really just tired of being disappointed?

What would receiving genuine support look like for you today?
